No matter what you read or watch about Egypt, the experience of being there is nonpareil.

One of the oldest known and documented civilizations, Egypt, is enchanting with the richness and the extent of its monuments that paradoxically were impeccably preserved by the all-engulfing dessert.

Covered by the sand until the 19th century, most of Egypt’s temples were unearthed by the effort of the British archeologists, exposing their full splendor.

From Abu Simbel, where the famous temple of Ramses II was moved stone by stone, all the way to the enigmatic temples of Debenderah and Abydos, Egypt is peppered with mysterious and grandiose spectacles of architecture.

The three pyramids are a cliche of archeological Egypt. Keops, Meknes, Mikerinos, and the Saqqara and Abu Sir groups represent one of the oldest funerary tombs in the world.

We climbed Mount Sinai by night to see what Moses saw when was called by God to the top of the mountain. We returned to St Catherina monastery, relaxing on the way back on beaches and diving areas of Dahab. Back in Cairo, we visited its remarkable mosques and Coptic churches.
