Andorra
Andorra is quite an interesting principality. The sixth smallest nation in Europe is squeezed between France and Spain in the Pyrinees. Based on the tradition Charlemagne granted a charter to the people of the region for their alliance in the fight against the Moors. This status was consolidated in 1278 when the principality’s sovereignty was guaranteed and shared by the Count of Foix and the Bishop of Urgell in Catalonia. As a result even today, the official language spoken in the country is Catalan and the sovereignty is still shared by the President of France and the Bishop of Urgell that makes them co-princes. Quite an oddity for the republican elected President of France to be also Price of Andorra.
Andorra declared war to Germany in the First World War and state of belligerency was removed only in 1957……
