Greece

There are few countries in the world where you are constantly walking on history. In Greece, you can go either on the continent or on any of the islands and you will discover that in the place you are either a god or a famous man was born and created on that soil. If it is no legend associated with a particular place, you'll still find that it was somehow related with one of the famous Greek tragedies giving you the impression that somehow you have been there, like you read a several millenniums old newspaper. But more than monuments, history and legends, Greece is the epitome for vacation, especially in the islands, who are conquered by hoards of sun starved Northern Europeans who are literally swarming their beaches: Norwegian in Kos, Germans in Samos, Dutch in Rhodes, Brits in Crete, etc.

The Greek Islands are divided in 5 major groups. The North Eastern Islands with Samotraki, Lesvos, Chios and Samos. The Dodecanese, in the South Eastern part of the Aegean Sea with Patmos, Kos and Rhodes. The Cyclades in the central part of the sea with Mykonos, Delos, Patmos, Naxos and Santorini. The Sporades around the continent and the Adriatic Sea islands with Corfu and Zakynthos. And southern of all is Crete, close to Africa in distance but also in spirit.

Come and see with us a travel video about some of these islands. Starting from Athens' Acropolis where the Parthenon is the symbol of the magnificent Greek civilization, the cradle of the western civilization, we hopped a ferry overnight to Chios, an island famous for mastic production, birth place of Homer, where we visit the picturesque villages of Pyrgi and Mesta, the 15th century monastery of Nea Moni, and the secluded island of Inouss, the only place where can be said that we were the only travelers on the island. We continue to Samos, the place where, for sure, Pythagoras and, probably, goddess Herra was born, where you could visit magnificent works done during the reign of tyrant Polycrate, to Patmos, small but very picturesque island where St. John the Evangelist, exiled by the Roman emperor Domitian, wrote the Book of the Apocalypse, to Bodrum in Turkey, the legendary city of Halicarnasse that hosted one of the seven wonders of the world, to the splendid island of Rhodes, with its beautiful cities with impressive castles.
From there we flew back to the continent driving to Meteora, where mysterious monasteries are hanging in the sky and to Metsovo, deep in the Pind Mountains, a place where a population, speaking a Romanian dialect, lives and preserves ancestral traditions.

Later returning to Greece, we will take you to the very alive island of Mykonos that is located just a half an hour away of the largest and most important holy place of Ancient Greece, the island of Delos. We hop a ferry to Paros, the hub for all the ferries in the Aegean Sea, where are located the marble quarries that supplied many masterpieces of the antiquity, Venus of Millo being just one of them. Just one hour away is Naxos, the capital of the Venetian principality that ruled the Cyclades for more than 300 years. From there we hop another ferry and go to the amazing island of Santorini. With its houses literally hanging inside the caldera of the volcano that created it, the island is stupendously beautiful but extremely touristic. Two hours away is the large island of Crete, that cradle of the Minoan civilization destroyed by the earthquake and the volcano eruption that destroyed also Santorini. But beside the ruins of the Minoan Palaces, Crete has inside timeless villages and traditions.

Come with us and watch these travel video and you'll never forget these places!
