Sicily travel video
This travel video is a 2 hour presentation of a trip in Sicily. Our intention was to show an interesting and pretty intense itinerary that we were able to cover in about 10 days. We wanted to shoot a travelog, a long form documentary about this particular trip making it different from the regular documentaries you may see on TV. We covered a lot of ground in the narration associated with the film: from history to legends, architecture and traditions, customs and religions we tried as much as possible to approach most of the issues you encounter in such a trip.
The travel video is the result of a lot of research and documentation we did before we left there, but also of a lot of information we got on site, talking to people or listening to the stories coming from the locals. We shot a lot of footage and we ended up editing it to make a very pleasant and attractive presentation.
If you have any intention to visit these areas or other parts of Sicily, or if you know for sure that you will never get there, watching this film will bring you the experience of being half there. To do the trip we rented a small Fiat and we drove around the island. We landed in Catania and from there we went to Mt. Etna, Siracusa, Noto and Casale. We followed the road on the southern coast to Agrigentto and Selinunte going after that, up north, to Erice and Palermo. From there we drove back through Cefalu and Taormina to the Messina straight.
Sicily is not expensive but we found with surprise to be slightly more expensive than Northern Italy. The reason stands in the lack of accommodations, in some of the cities being able to find only a handful of hotels, so the lack of competition keeps the prices relatively high. But one of the highlights of Sicily is the food that goes beyond any imagination. No matter that you eat in a large restaurant or in a small hotel the food is extremely good and very inexpensive, a real treat wherever you go.
