Southern Italy travel video

This travel video is a 75 minutes presentation of a trip in Southern Italy. Our intention was to show an interesting and pretty intense itinerary that we were able to cover in about 5 days. We wanted to shoot a travelog, a long form documentary about this particular trip making it different from the regular documentaries you may see on TV. We covered a lot of ground in the narration associated with the film: from history to architecture and traditions we tried as much as possible to approach most of the issues you encounter in such a trip.

The travel video is the result of a lot of research and documentation we did before we left there, but also of a lot of information we got on site, talking to people or listening to the stories coming from the locals. We shot a lot of footage and we ended up editing it to make a very pleasant and attractive presentation.

If you have any intention to visit these areas or other parts of Southern Italy, or if you know for sure that you will never get there, watching this film will bring you the experience of being half there. To do the trip we rented a small Fiat and we drove around the island of Sicily and latter we crossed the Messina strait into the continent. We enjoyed driving around the southern coasts of Italy and we stopped in Matera, a city dug in stone. From there we drove to Salerno, the endpoint of Costiera Amalfitana, the beautiful road that follows the coast starting in Napoli. We visited the impressive art and archeological collections of the Napoli museums, we visited Paestum, one of the largest Greek colony in Magna Grecia, and we lost ourselves in Pompei. After that, we took a boat and visit the island of Capri and the charming city of Anacapri and we barely were able to catch a boat back to Sorento to spend there the New Year. The next day we took an amazingly beautiful ride on Costiera Amalfitana, to Positano, Amalfi and Ravello.

The Southern Italy travel video DOES NOT contain any information about Sicily.

In comparison with Sicily, the moment you get around Napoli, you will be surrounded by tourists no matter what time of the year you go. The prices for the accommodation are lower , the competition being pretty steep, and the food is still good being a major highlight of the trip.
